Equipped to Serve
Compassion that comes from the heart of God moves the local church to meet needs in their communities. Many compassion ministries are most effective when volunteers are equipped well to serve. On this page, you will find a variety of ministries and resources to help your church begin to meet those needs.

Compassion Ministry Courses through WMU
WMU has introductory training in Pure Water, Pure Love; Human Trafficking; Refugees, Worldcrafts, Poverty, and Christian Women’s Job Corp/Christian Men’s Job Corp. Learn about these courses here.
WMU also provides help for churches wanting to become involved in specific critical issues. In 2023-2024, the critical issue is mental health.

Literacy Missions Ministries
Literacy ministries include English as a Second Language, Adult Reading and Writing, and Tutoring Children and Youth. Each ministry can be done in the church or in another suitable place such as apartment complex community rooms. Specialized training workshops equip local church volunteers to share Jesus with their students while effectively teaching them. The training uses materials developed by the North American Missions Board and Send Relief. See their website for training options or contact Claudean Boatman at ColoradoWMU@ColoradoBaptists.org.

Send Relief
Send Relief has five focus areas:
- Strengthen communities
- Care for refugees
- Protect children and families
- Fight human trafficking
- Respond to Crisis
Resources are available for related ministries, and volunteers can take part in trips to ministry centers to learn how to do specific ministries.

Colorado Baptists
Ministry grants are available to Colorado Southern Baptist Churches who have given to the Colorado Missions Offering in Honor of Nicy Murphy. Contact Rick Ackerman (rackerman@coloradobaptists.org) for details.
